Coastal Collection

Aude Sirvain

2019— France, Spain, Australia, New Caledonia

About this series

With her unfiltered portrayals of nature, which exude an eerie calmness, Aude Sirvain takes you to the frontier between journey and art, to a place where man is an insignificant spot in an otherwise infinite landscape.

“For a few years now, I have been working on coastal images all over the world, from France to Australia, Spain and to New Caledonia. These places may appear vastly different from one another, but they have one thing in common: they open onto the horizon, water and space. I like to convey this barrenness, this untainted nature, the light and the air. I reconnect with the years of my youth. I breathe it in.”

Having spent her childhood in the South Pacific, Aude Sirvain now lives and works in Paris. After completing a bachelors’ degree in business studies, she went on to study at The National School of Decorative Arts (l’Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs/ENSAD) in Paris, specialising in photography.
She has been commissioned by a number of magazines for portraits and fashion shots since 2000 (Télérama, Libération, Air France Madame, Air France Magazine, Milk Magazine, Psychologies Magazine, Studio Magazine, Votre Beauté, TGV Magazine…), as well as advertising campaigns for various brands (Jean-Michel Wilmotte, Hermes, Tôt ou tard maison de disque, Label Emi Record, Jardin d’Acclimatation, Disneyland Paris, Havas Worldwide Paris, SNCF, Cofiroute, …).
In parallel to her commissioned work, she has worked on a personal project about coastal landscapes and has since exhibited a collection of photographs titled “Le Bain et Mon Bord de Mer” (Bathing and my Coast). In addition to this, she also explored the theme of childhood by creating playful scenes of children in vibrant colours and dreamlike universe.
Adolescence, one her favourite theme, is also a prominent feature of her work, in which she captures the passage of time through a delicate lens, as well as the occasional ennui.
She joined the Collectif de Photographes France(s), Territoire Liquide (The French Photographers’ collective), A new photography project in France in 2012. She is now represented by Sabrina Ponti.
