About this series
“Finalmente posso andare” reflects the way I experienced the deaths of my grandmother and my aunt during the Covid 19 lockdown.
The virus had nothing to do with their passing but it became an obstacle between me and my family. I lost them, but I couldn’t live the loss, I couldn’t feel what was happening. I was locked in my house and two parts of me had just left. I started looking for a way to express this emptiness as it was the only thing I could do. In that precise moment, “Finalmente posso andare” was born.
I searched my photographic archives and made new images, looking for magical thinking in my daily life, for signs in my surroundings. I kept looking for life and light during this process.
This work is the farewell that I did not have the opportunity to make.
